THE FACTS
Firstly we would like to assure the public that M & A Butchery have a great concern for animal welfare and would not support ANY acts such as those that have been aired on television.
The footage is of a seperate company and is of the slaughter of stock other than that of our own.
We must stress that we had absolutely no knowledge of any such happenings. ALL of our stock that is processed on site, or other regional abattoirs, are stunned and not concious during slaughter, and adhere to the strict Australian Standards.
The company being filmed is a seperate entity that leases the abattoir. To our knowledge they have been in the industry for 40 years and have a good reputation. There have been allegations that the cameras have been planted by disgruntled ex employees that have been paid. This may also extend to intentional breaches by staff for the cameras while management was not present and we have been informed that all staff involved have been terminated.
M & A Butchery is a family company and we do our best to serve the public. The sickening actions of individuals that have no association with our company should not be an excuse to direct abuse to our family or staff. We will post more information as it comes to light and we urge anyone who has corncerns to seek all ALL the facts before making unsubstantiated statements.
Thank you for your time and support.
